I wanted to let you know that both girls got early admission. Maria got it at USC and Allie got it at College Of Charleston. Both are very happy! They give you credit for getting them in college.
Both feel that working with you really helped. I just wanted to say thanks! I highly recommend you to others!
Thanks! Karen Garland January 2014, parent of JL Mann students
Mr. Markel was such a huge help to my son Matthew. He was so flexible with his time and accommodated a busy teenage schedule. Matthew was able to improve his ACT scores well enough to be accepted to UNC Charlotte his first college choice. Mr. Markel was able to identify the weak areas and place extra time and emphasis in improving these areas during testing. You have made a huge impact in Matthew's life . You have taught far more than how to take a test. You have taught him confidence and the pay off of hard work. For this I could never reimburse you enough. Heartfelt thanks.
We highly recommend his services.

“The best money we ever spent! Our three sons participated in Mr. Markel’s SAT/ACT prep program. All of the boys improved their test scores and became eligible for free scholarship money! Mr. Markel does a great job and we highly recommend his services.”

“Both my children have had SAT/ACT preparation tutoring from Mr. Markel. My oldest child was able to significantly improve his scores to where he was accepted to both Clemson and Wofford and was also able to receive scholarship money . My youngest child also received tutoring and was able to perform exceptionally well in both the SAT and ACT on her first try. One of the key advantages of doing SAT prep with Mr. Markel is the flexibility his program offers compared to some of the other options. You are not locked into a specific day and time and he is very accommodating in adapting to your child's schedule.” (Jann V. parent of Christ Church students)
“Both my older son and daughter received SAT prep tutoring from Mr. Markel; as a result, they both significantly improved their SAT scores, qualified for the Life Scholarship, and are now attending Clemson. Now my youngest son is attending SAT/ACT sessions at Markel Educational Resources. He looks forward to attending the SAT sessions as he improves his confidence and skills each time he takes a standardized test.”

Both our daughters went to Rick for very different purposes. Our oldest was looking into graduate school and needed to register for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Being an English major, she had not taken a math class in four years. She realized she needed to review some fundamental math concepts and contacted Rick. He was able to meet with her on her schedule and they spent the majority of time on GRE math principles. She took the exam and immediately received her scores. The quantitative score was in the range that engineering students usually receive! She has now applied to several graduate schools and her GRE scores will hopefully help her land grant and fellowship offers.
Our youngest daughter went to see Rick after her first attempts at the SAT and the ACT. While her scores were good and illustrated her strength in math, we felt she needed to improve her verbal scores. Rick was flexible enough to work with her on her schedule. They spent 4 sessions on the reading section of the ACT before she sat for the exam. They then spent 4 sessions on the critical reading section of the SAT and she recently completed that exam. For both tests, her scores improved significantly. Her critical reading score on the SAT went up 120 points! She is now competitive enough to apply to highly selective colleges and universities, and should receive substantial scholarship offers.
Rick did a wonderful job in working with both our daughters. His availability and flexibility were key in getting them the help they needed. He helped them both work through their weaknesses and gave them the confidence needed to succeed on the exams. We believe that the time and cost involved in taking his individualized test preparation sessions will reap many rewards for our girls. Thank you, Rick, from all of us.
